Teapot

sold out

Teapots are about 9 inches tall, 7 inches wide and hold 36 ounces.

Ships in 4-5 days if in stock. 2-3 weeks if out of stock.

These pour extremely well and have a built in strainer so that you can use a coarse loose leaf tea. They are microwave and dishwasher safe but water must be boiled separately and poured in. These cannot take direct heat or be put on a stove top.

Decorative Collection items are spun on the wheel and carved by hand. Each form has that handmade unique touch but with Andy’s lifetime of experience, the forms are fairly consistent and fit together perfectly as sets.

Crystal growth begins naturally on the atomic level so each piece is 100% unique. With a little bit of artistry and chemistry there is some consistency, so the picture you see is representative of your purchase. The artist will choose from among the best pieces for your orders on this website, but you can choose specific items by purchasing them on Etsy. You can also find the outliers and more unique works on Etsy.

Decorative Collection items mark a major breakthrough. Never before has the glaze been so controlled that it wouldn’t simply flow downward and cover the area below it. Design elements like the areas of brown carved porcelain below the glaze were thought impossible. Andy was able to refine the recipes and processes so that the glaze could be controlled and he unlocked new creative options. He has shared his secrets at workshops, his online tutorials and lectured at NCECA so that the rest of the community can explore this new creative frontier.

Crystalline glazed pottery is technically and aesthetically the cutting edge of Ceramic Art. No where else can you find such an intense combination of organic beauty mixed with scientific process. They require the highest level of artistry in making fine porcelain pieces but also a mastery of the chemistry so that crystals naturally grow in the firing. It is a perilous process and rare in the ceramics world. If you are looking to learn more and see how far these glazes can be pushed, you are in the right place.
